2020 Topps Series 2 Baseball Inserts
While the base offering might feel like more of the same, several inserts debut in 2020 Topps Series 2 Baseball.
Looking ahead a full decade, Topps 2030 imagines the flagship design in 10 years. These fall 1:6 Hobby packs and 1 per HTA Jumbo box.
Stat-based inserts include the 50-card Warriors of the Diamond for the top performers in history for WAR and dWAR. In addition, Significant Statistics looks specifically at advanced stats from 2019.
Feeling nostalgic about the 2010s? Topps Player of the Decade celebrates the greatness of Mike Trout over that timeframe.
Series 1 continuations include Decade's Best cards for the top options across seven decades. The insert covers Award Winners, Best Hitters, Best Pitchers and Best Teams. There is also a second batch of 1985 Topps Baseball (1:4 packs) cards to honor the 35th anniversary of the set with various stars, rookies and All-Stars.
Collectors can find Blue, Black (#/299), Gold (#/50), Red (#/10), and Platinum (1/1) parallels for most of the inserts, as well as signed versions limited to 25 or less.
Retail fans can build the second series of Turkey Red 2020 (#101-200) with Blue (#/50), Green (#/10) and Black (1/1) parallels.
On top of that, Hobby Jumbo boxes have exclusive Decade's Best Chrome cards. These come in a two-card box topper pack.
Hand-drawn Sketch cards are another choice. The one-of-one cards are only found in Hobby/Jumbo boxes.
2020 Topps Series 2 Baseball Autographs / Auto Relics
Just like in Series 1, the 2020 Topps Series 2 Baseball checklist supplies Baseball Stars Autographs. The set looks at past and present MLB standouts.
Baseball Stars Dual Autographs cards are numbered to just five copies.
More signatures come in the hard-signed 1985 Topps Baseball Autographs line.
The Baseball Stars and 1985 Topps cards both have Black (#/199), Gold (#/50 or less), Red (#/25) and Platinum (1/1) parallels. However, Red is exclusive to Hobby and Platinum is exclusive to Hobby/Jumbo for the 1985 autographs.
Limited to 50 or less, other hits include Major League Material Autographs, Significant Statistics Autograph and Significant Statistics Autograph Relics. These add Red (#/25) and Platinum (1/1) editions.
Finally, there are as many 50 different Cut Signatures (1/1) cards.
2020 Topps Series 2 Baseball Relics
In terms of the memorabilia, 2020 Topps Series 2 Baseball largely keeps to the basics. Look for 1985 Topps Baseball Relic, Major League Material and Significant Statistics Relic (#/99 or less) cards. Although the 1985 and Major League sets issue Black (#/199), Gold (#/50), Red (#/25) and Platinum (1/1 - Hobby/Jumbo) parallels, Significant Stats only has Red (#/25) and Platinum (1/1).
Again working in manufactured relics, the Hobby/Jumbo-only selection includes commemorative Jumbo Special Event Jersey Sleeve Patch and Draft Day Medallion cards. Limited versions come with the Black (#/50), Gold (#/25), Red (#/10), Platinum (1/1) and Autograph (#/10 or less) parallels. Each Jumbo box should have at least one manufactured relic.
Retail-exclusive 2020 Topps Baseball Coin cards, with manufactured relics, are only found in Blaster Relic Boxes. Parallels include Black (#/199), Gold (#/50), Red (#/10), Platinum (1/1) and Autograph (#/10 or less) parallels.
And, of course, there are the one-of-one In the Name relics. Exclusive to Hobby/Jumbo, these one-of-cards feature game-worn jersey nameplate letters.
